About Univeristy of Science and Technology Liaoning
University of Science and Technology Liaoning (USTL) is a multidisciplinary university based on engineering, coordinated with since,economics, management and law. Located in Anshan, the iron and steel capital of China, with the Qianshan mountain range to the East and Jade Buddha Palace (the world’s largest Jade Buddha) to the West, it enjoys picturesque and natural surroundings conducive to both study and research.
The university was originally founded in 1948, and in 1958 became the Anshan institute of Iron and Steel technology, affiliated to the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. It was one of the first metallurgical universities in China with primary aim of cultivating engineering professionals for major steel companies such as Anshan Iron & Steel Company. In 1998, the institute came under the administration of Liaoning provincial government and the Ministry of Education. With the approval of the Ministry, it was renamed Anshan University of Science and Technology in 2002 before becoming the University of Science and Technology Liaoning in 2006.
USTL campus covers over 100 hectares with a building area of 147000 square meters. It has fixed assets amounting to nearly 1 billion RMB, teaching and research equipment valued at 140 million RMB and 1590000 books housed in the library. The university has more than 22000 full time students and is comprised of 18 schools offering 45 undergraduate, 47 postgraduate, MBA and 7 doctoral programmers. It also offers 20 specialized diplomas. These are spread over 6 disciplines: science engineering, literature, economics, law and management.
